Eastham has only one full-service hotel. Fortunately it happens to be a Four Points by Sheraton with clean, spacious rooms, plenty of amenities included, and a likable, hardworking staff.
The town has no waterfront hotels or motels (you’ll need to rent a house if you want walk-to-water convenience) but the location of this property, halfway between the bay and ocean beaches, is great.
The Eastham Four Points Sheraton has 107 rooms and two apartment-sized suites that are a super solution for large families. Rooms are so well decorated that I wondered where they got the great artwork. And the beds. Oh, those beds. They were so comfortable that I actually checked out the Sheraton web site to see if I could buy some of the hotel’s divine down-and-feather pillows and super-lightweight down blankets (I could, and did).
This is a 100 percent smoke-free property. Guest rooms are equipped with a small refrigerator, flat-screen TV, free wi-fi and even a few bottles of water. There is no nickle and diming here. Access to a small on-site gym is free, and coffee and copies of USAToday are available gratis to guests each morning. The Eastham Four Points Sheraton has two floors but there is no elevator–only stairs–so travelers with physical limitations or those lugging large amounts of baby paraphernalia should be specific about their need for a ground-floor room when making a reservation.
The Eastham Four Points Sheraton is designed in a horseshoe shape with half of the rooms facing the parking lot and the rest facing a large indoor heated pool and hot tub. Both types of rooms have pros and cons. Exterior-facing rooms are brighter because they let in more sunlight. But unless the air conditioner is running during peak-summer-travel months, when traffic on Route 6 can be substantial, light sleepers make spend a lot of time counting sheep. The best solution is to request a rear-facing room. Interior-facing rooms aren’t subjected to the sounds of traffic but they’re more likely to smell of chlorine that emanates from the pool area. Also, during periods of heavy seasonal pool usage, some guests may generate more noise than you’d like to hear after an exhausting day of wind-surfing or beachcombing. An outdoor pool is open in season and there are several tennis courts on the property. Access to the Cape Cod Rail Trail bike path is nearby.
The Eastham Four Points Sheraton’s on-site restaurant is open 7 a.m. through 10 p.m. The choices are competitively priced, well-prepared and generally very tasty. The small bar is cozy and welcoming.
